Irregular Periods?? - February 21st 2013, 02:53 AM

Hello, I have been off of my birth control for just over 1 year, and since July 2012 I have had irregular periods. It seems like it's been 2 weeks on and 1 week off, constantly. I've been tracking my periods since August 2012 and since than, in August I had 2 periods both lasting 6 days and only 5 days apart, September I had 1 period that lasted 10 days, October again 1 period for 10 days, November I bled for 6 days, than 9 days off, than 3 days on, 2 days off, than for 14 days going into December. Now, January and February have seen 14 day periods. I went to a doctor and he said that it was normal for this to happen when stopping the pill, and said I should just take iron because eventually it will straighten itself out.... I am 24 years old, and I have a 6 year old son. I am in shape, 5'2 and 110lbs. What do you think is going on in my body? Thanks

Like your Doctor said, Its just the body regulating itsself from the hormones of the pill. Just like your Doctor says, increase the iron in your diet, and stay hydrated. If you feel it is a problem, consult a Doctor again or a Gynecologist.

As you have stopped taking birth control pills your body needs time to adjust and normalize. For some women this happens quicker and for some it takes longer. I hope it will get normalize with time.

Also keep consulting with your doctor and take there advice.
