Do I have one or not? - June 28th 2013, 09:17 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of eating disorders, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Okay, here's the deal. I can eat - but afterwards i feel sick. I suffer with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) so i cannot eat anything with white flour in. I don't. I always have wholemeal flour. Difference is, now if i eat (e.g fruit) I feel sick, and I don't know why. If i don't eat, I will feel sick, however when i eat, i feel sick. I don't know whether I have an eating disorder, but my mum will be taking me to the doctors to check. I hate feeling like this...

First, just because the question itself in the title is asking if you have one or not, we cannot diagnose you nor are we professionals that could. But it is a very smart idea that you are being taken to a doctor to be checked, that is what is safest.

The fact that you have IBS could very well be affecting other things in your body, or if you are on any sort of medication that could be making you feel sick. There are a lot of factors, and what is best is that your doctor helps you out and gets things answered.

I hope that this, at least, was some comfort to read that the steps you have taken already (telling a parent, seeking a doctor's help) is great, and I wish the very best for you

I'm going to move this to General Health. Although I can't diagnose, this doesn't sound like an eating disorder, but rather, a stomach or other health issue. An eating disorder stems around body-image and choosing not to eat; your issue is stemmed around your stomach hurting you, influencing you not to eat. I think that people in the General Health forum might be able to help you with other symptoms, along with help you develop particular questions that the doctor can answer.

I cannot diagnose you, like said, not a health professional. BUT it doesn't sound much like an eating disorder to me because an eating disorder is usually accompanied by sever body image issues and a need to control what you eat. Getting sick when you eat stuff sounds more like another health issue causing your stomach to become upset. You definitely want to see a doctor though
