Will I get cancer too? - August 24th 2013, 06:59 PM

I was wondering if any of these 3 cancers run in family's-
•eye cancer
•bladder cancer
•breast cancer

The reason I am wondering this is becuse....
Eye-my dad had eye cancer in both eyes when he was a baby and one was saved the other one is a fake eye now

Bladder-my grandpa just had a tomer taken out of his bladder about I guess around a month ago and he starts kemo for it (if you don't know what that is its treatment) he starts that on Wendsday

Breast-my mom had breast cancer or dose I don't know to much about this becuse I haven't talk to her in 8 years cus she's a f***ing Idiot and I hate her all I know about her breast cancer is that she told my grandma through Facebook a few months ago

Sorry I don't know the specific names of these cancers I just would like to know if they run in family's and if so is there anything I can do now to prevent myself from getting cancer or lower the risks

Hey Abbey,

Firstly my sympathies, as it seems you've has a very hard time of this. It can't be easy.

Unfortunately quite a few cancers can be genetic.
However, there are a lot of things you can do to help.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep yourself active; don't smoke; don't drink to excess; most of all, get checked for it. I don't know how the US system would work, but in the UK women in particular get checked regularly for cancerous cells.
If they find something early, it's an awful lot easier to treat.

Regarding breast cancer, feel around your breasts regularly for any unusual lumps or bumps. If you find any, go to a Doctor - they can get it checked out. Again, spotting it early is the best way to ensure long-term health.

I hope this helps.

Skittlify me up...

...well, I try, anyway. .......................
