Is it normal to feel like you look more horrible than usual when you're on your period?

Well, it's normal to have breakouts during your period, along with not wanting to wear tight clothes and stuff like that. In that aspect, you may look worse.

Traci's totally right! I know that during my period, I have acne breakouts, though these can be mostly solved with my prescription acne meds. You can get those too, if you get bad acne. Then there's the issue of sometimes having the issue of not being able to get on your pants! So you may feel a bit more insecure around that time, but I bet nobody else actually notices or cares! Just relax during that time, wear what fits you best and just try and take care of your skin, etc.

From what I've seen, periods play merry havoc with hormones, and can lead to worse thoughts than usual. Plus all the physical symptoms.

(Sometimes, being a bloke is good... sometimes).

Feel free to email/PM/VM/whatever me if you want. I'll answer as soon as I can.

Totalllly normal - I feel crappy on the first day of mine. Remember a lot of it's in your head - it's to do with hormones. And when you're feeling uncomfortable, you don't exactly feel sexy, which can make you believe that you look unattractive too.

It's good to take a bit of time in the days leading up to your period to prepare your body... drinking plenty of water, having fruit and vegetables, and avoiding salty food will help with the bloated feeling, and skin breakouts. Bananas are known to help with period pains - I've actually tried it, despite hating bananas, and it works! Even if you don't feel like exercising at all, doing a little bit can help, even if it's just a long walk.... this will all help you feel better about yourself, and you'll feel more attractive then. And don't worry..... everyone is the same!!xx

Yes. The hormones present during your period can also do things like cause bloating and acne, so that doesn't really help. Plus it's normal to feel all around like crud when you're cramping all the time.
