Getting rid of a cold...fast. - October 4th 2013, 02:00 PM

Well I don't know if it's officially a cold, but I woke up on Monday morning with a runny nose and it's still here on Friday afternoon, driving me crazy. I don't have a sore throat, cough, or headache, it's just a nose that will not stop.
I've been pounding into the Vitamin C (took three one-a-day supplements today..) drinking teas and soups and things, and getting rest. Oh, and constantly blowing my nose, not that I have any choice in that matter. But I'm heading off to work in a while and don't want to be blowing my nose the whole way through the shift

Any ideas on how to shift this boy in the next couply days?? It's outstayed its welcome.

Have you tried taking a nasal decongestant such as Sudafed? That always helps to get the grossness out of my nose faster.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Try to get some natural honey, it has to be natural raw you can eat it alone or in with warm water and a little lime. It works miracles I always so it when I have colds.

Is that Manuka honey? That stuff is amazing and is well known for its medicinal uses!

I'd try Manuka honey or what's worked well for me is sweating it out, wrap yourself up, crank up the heat, face in a bowl of steam, hot baths and sweat it out.

Hope you feel better, i'm just getting over mine now!

The general rule with colds is that it's 7 days with medication and a week without. You can lessen the symptoms, though.

Anyways, is it possible that it might be allergies? Particularly if your phlegm is clear and you have no other symptoms, it could be hay fever.

Otherwise, as suggested above, decongestants are probably your friends, but it should go away on its own soon enough

Maybe not the best thing to due, but sit in your bathroom shower cranked on hot and let the steam clear you our. Also, get tons of rest.. I always use 'Vicks vapor rub'. Sorry about your cold I always get them.

I would recommend those nasal sprays, if it's mainly just a runny nose. As much as I hated doing it, it did help clear my nose up for a while so it could help while you're at work so you don't need to constantly be blowing it/sniffling. The one I used was Sudafed Non-Drowsy Decongestant nasal spray.
