Quitting soda.. - October 8th 2013, 12:50 AM

Ok so I am on day 3 of quitting soda.
I don't have any width drawls thank heavens, but I am having this weird sugar craving.
I've been eating cereal lately, since it's been better than buying a candy bar, or eating something way more fattening...
Does anyone have any explanation of why I'm having sugar cravings like this? ;\
I googled it, and found nothing. Maybe I'm a weirdo.

Human beings naturally crave sugar. It's something that used to be rare in nature, and boosts our energy levels, so we want to eat it often. However, too much is bad for us, especially in the refined/processed forms such as sucrose and corn syrup. I'd recommend to eat more fruit! Fruit is filled with fructose, which is another type of sugar, and that will give you the same sugar boost while not having too many calories and also giving you necessary nutrients like fiber.

I am so happy for you even though you're still just starting out! I have such an addiction to pop, or as you guys call it, soda.

Have you thought about replacing your sugars with sweeteners instead? When you want something sweet, try making yourself a drink that you'd normally put sugar in but replace it with sweeteners instead. Your drinks will still taste sweet and sugary but they won't technically be 'sugar', just sweet, and this may be just what you need.

Thank you everyone with the replies so far!
I am going to try like sun tea with sweeteners instead of regular sugar.
I am drinking Arizona iced tea instead of soda right now, but I found out it's almost as bad as soda.. but less calories, but still has similar ingredients. ;[

Maybe your blood sugar is getting low?

I've found the best way to fill that sweet craving is to eat fresh fruit (not a fruit smoothie or juice- those have added sugar).

Eating more protein and fats can help to balance as well.
