Question Very Confused - October 16th 2013, 04:32 PM

So, I think this is the right place to ask, but I don't know for sure. x.x

Recently I've been having random, excruciating, throbbing pain in my head. It'll last for random amounts of time, and I haven't seen a pattern in it. I also feel nauseous around when it happens.

I've also been having problems breathing, and have had pains in my chest. I don't really know how to describe that pain though. It also happens at random times.

I've tried talking to my mother about it. But she never seems to care about it. x.x

Please help q.q

Hey there Jennifer,

Firstly, an apology that it has taken so long to get you an answer. General Health doesn't seem to have any Moderators at the moment, but hopefully this will get sorted soon - unfortunately it means that guaranteed responses don't necessarily happen.

Anyway, I'd personally recommend going to your doctor. I don't know which country you're in, so I don't know whether you need your mother to go with you, or pay, etc. but it sounds like something fairly ambiguous which a doctor might want to look at. Pain in your chest and problems breathing particularly could potentially have a serious reason behind it.

Hopefully you can either go without your mum, or she'll be willing to go (even if it takes some persuasion) - good luck. If you can't go, try general things like drinking more, getting more exercise, sleeping more, having a more balanced diet, definitely not smoking or drinking excessively, etc.

Pain in the chest and unexplained headaches? That's something that you do want to go see a doctor about. It could be harmless, but... those are also symptoms of other problems. It's not worth taking the risk that it is (probably) nothing to worry about.

Feel free to email/PM/VM/whatever me if you want. I'll answer as soon as I can.

It could vary from being nothing to being something very serious. Why don't you start keeping a diary of things you do around the time that the pains start so you can see if you have a trend among different symptoms. At the moment, it's very vague.

Also, there's a good chance that the symptoms in your chest/difficulty breathing and your headaches aren't related. I'd start keeping a diary of what you did for the day, what you ate, and what feelings you were feeling when the pains started and where the pains were located.

I don't want to go too off-topic from the OP's concerns, but have you seen a doctor about this? I would suggest strongly doing so.
