Allergies - October 27th 2013, 02:54 AM

My allergies are acting up really bad and one Allegra isn't working, so does anyone know if I can take more than that in a day? It doesn't say on the bottle.

I would ask your doctor. They can either direct you to a different dose or potentially prescribe you a medication that works better for your allergies.

I agree with Traci. It's not usually a good idea to take more than the recommended dose without asking your doctor about it first, if you're unsure of what effect the medication will have on you will be. Your doctor probably can suggest other things to try!

I'd check with the doctor or pharmacist since there are a lot of factors involved . Or you could try switching to a different brand. Sometimes that works with me. Or you may need something with an additional decongestant added in. My boyfriend has me buy the decongestants since he gets the generic claritin from the VA.

Allegra generic is fexofenadine hydrochloride. Claritin is loratadine.

The max recommended for allegra is 180 mg once a day or 60 mg twice a day for users 12 and over according to my drug book.
