Benzoyl Peroxide for acne - November 18th 2013, 11:27 AM

Has anyone here used Benzoyl Peroxide for acne? My acne has gotten worse over the past few months and I am willing to try anything. My doctor prescribed me Zineryt and I've been using that for a month and it doesn't seem to do much.

After some googling I found a product called Benzoyl Peroxide. I just bought some online. I'm not looking forward to the red, dry, peeling skin but I'd prefer to deal with that for a bit than acne. I will use a moisturiser after using the Benzoyl Peroxide.

Has it worked for anyone here?

I've used it. For me, it took a while to start working. But it did end up working. I found that if I didn't use it too much, it wouldn't dry out my skin. I would use it once a day at night, but would make sure I didn't put too much on my skin. Moisturizer should definitely help with the dryness!

Sweet Thanks. I bought 2.5% gel so it shouldn't make my skin too dry or flakey. If it seems to be working or only seems to work a little I'll buy 5%

My product is Clindamycin and Benozyl Peroxide, so it has two things in it. Normally it works really well, sometimes I will have a small breakout around my period or if I slack on washing my face but the breakout isn't horrible. So I think it works.
I do get a minor amount of peeling, mainly in that part of my nose that's at the top right between my eyes. I moisturise and it fixed it, just make sure the moisturiser won't clog anything.

It was the only thing that worked for me. Nothing else was strong enough.

Apply a thin layer once per day at first. I usually just left it on for several minutes and then washed it off with a warm washcloth. Or ideally I would put it on before going on the shower (since it bleaches anything it touches and it will dry out your skin if yuo leave it on too long). After a couple of weeks, you should notice a significant difference.

If you find the product is too strong for your skin, it's a great spot treatment. I always put some on when I get a zit and it dries it right up.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Yay It come. I put some on this morning. It burned a little when I put it on but the burning sensation faded away as soon as the benzoyl peroxide dried up. I put loads of moisturiser on afterwards

I'm weird and medication tends to start working for me quicker than most people so I should probably see results sooner yay.

Been using it for about a week now and my skin is REALLY dry It feels weird, I've never had dry skin in my life. The burning sensation when I put it on now seems to be worse because my skin is all dry and sensitive.

The pimples on my cheeks seem to have gone quite nicely I have a new pimple on my chin but it feels.... odd :/ It doesn't feel like the pimples I have normally.
