Sleep Deprivation - January 13th 2009, 12:22 AM

Okay so lately I haven't been sleeping well and it's really taking a toll on my health. About 50% of nights I get less than four hours of sleep. I also haven't been eating too well. (When I'm in a sleepy haze, it's a bit difficult to trust myself with the stove.) I've had a migraine all day today, and it's not going away.

Anyway, I don't know what to do. Sometimes I take Tylenol PM so I can be sure to get some sleep, but I try to avoid it as I know it's not healthy. The night before last I didn't get any sleep at all and fell asleep the next morning at 8 AM. Last night I got 10 solid hours, but I've been extremely tired and achy all day.

Tips? Advice? I'm just really tired. Help!

I have the same problem Laura. Lately, I've been trying to make sure that I go to sleep at the same time every night and I *try* to make sure that I have at least 8 hours to lay down. Try some relaxing music in the background on low. You might want to try meditation before bed [that always relaxes me and helps me].

Try and wind down before bed. The more you worry about it, the more you are going to stay awake. Have a bath about an hour before, read a book, listen to some music, but some relaxing oils in the bath (lavender is good for sleeping) and then have a hot chocolate and go to bed. Try not to think about sleep and worrying that if you don't go to sleep soon then you'll be tired tomorrow. Just let yourself be calm and sleep will come. I used to suffer with insomnia really bad, and I find you can become too reliant on sleeping pills and whenever you start to not b able to sleep without them, so I'd advise you to not even start.

Meh, I have the same problem and it's badly affecting school. Have you tried warm milk or trying to tire yourself out in the day? Sometimes reading helps me to...kinda makes me drowsy.

I have the same problem also. Sometimes I will go days and days without sleeping. I have tried almost every kind of medication that my doctor knows for sleep aid and to no avail...
