Question Sudden Knee Pain? - November 19th 2016, 12:42 AM

This morning I had the most intense quicky pain above my left knee (about 1-2 inches from my kee bone) where I instantly grabbed it and yelped out, "ahhhh" and clenching my teeth and jaw.

I've had intense pain out of nowhere and dealt with sever chronic pain for over a year, but this pain that happened out of nowhere and all of a sudden? It hurt.

When it happens I don't know when it will happen to prepare myself, it's where I have no control over my entire leg, knee down. I've almost fell down and all cases ive had something to catch myself.

I haven't hit it or injured it. A few days ago I scraped it on something so I have a cut but it's not infected.

I am not sure what to do this has never happened to me. It would be weird going back to my doctors office over this since it just started today.

Does anyone know of anything I could try or do?

Any help would be wonderful.

Re: Sudden Knee Pain? - November 19th 2016, 03:26 AM

Hey Chantal!

I know how bothersome knee pain can be. I have a lot of issues with my knees so I definitely understand. There's a couple things that it could be from my personal experience. If your weather is like our weather down here then it could be from all the pressure changes. Because of all the pressure changes I have actually been in a lot of pain the past few days as well.

Some mornings when I wake up if I flex my foot after I've been in a deep sleep I get a sudden sharp pain from my ankle and up my calf. I think that might be what you're talking about.

Have you been doing a lot more walking/exercise/standing then usual? If could also be muscle strains. I recommend seeing if it feels better over the weekend. If not then you should definitely go see your doctor. You could also consider getting a tensor bandage for your leg to wrap it up, you can ice it, and also take a pain killer to help with the pain, I find Advil/Ibuprofen work the best for muscle pain. That might help numb the pain.

I hope you feel better soon!
