acne itches - December 16th 2016, 02:51 PM

I have had really bad cystic acne for around 7 or 8 years now.
I nearly managed to get rid of it, but now it's back stronger than ever (I'm afraid it's because I'm stressed af). I have these huge cysts spots all over my cheeks and chin and I noticed that sometimes they itch badly.
I figured the itch could also be caused by the products I'm using to get rid of the zits. I was wondering if any of you have experienced something like this and if you could help me out with some tips (to get rid f both acne and the itch).

the subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place, as maladapted to your surroundings as a seal on a beach—lumbering, clumsy, easily distracted, huddled in the company of other misfits, unable to recognize the ambient roar of your intended habitat, in which you’d be fluidly, brilliantly, effortlessly at home.

Sorry to hear you have acne and that it itches! I've not had acne, so can't give personal recommendations. However, you could ask your pharmacist or doctor for recommendations.

In general, keep your skin clean (but don't over-wash) and if it's dry, it's okay to moisturise. I would avoid using make-up on the area. If it's itchy, it might help to use a cold compress on the area (or wrap some ice in towels).

Hi Serena,

I have struggled all my life with acne as well, I know how horrible it can be. I tried many different lotions/creams/treatments and none of them worked. However, I was put on a long term antibiotic due to a chronic skin infection, and while it was clearing up the skin infection it also cleared up my acne. So you can maybe talk to your doctor, dermatologist (you might need a doctor referral to see one), or a pharmacist about getting put on medication.

Good luck!
