Endometriosis - December 19th 2017, 03:03 AM

So I've been having a lot of pain, and this may be TMI so fair warning.

You know how I've been having stomach pain? Well, what if it's from endometriosis? My periods aren't terrible and I don't get any because I'm on the depo shot, however, I get bad cramping and spotting. I just did some research that it can cause similar symptoms like irritable bowel, which I've been diagnosed with. It's been a few years since my last ultrasound, and this pain has only been going on for a year and a half. Perhaps this is the entire reason I'm having pain?

I have an appointment with my OB/GYN tomorrow and I fully intend to ask her about it, but I thought I'd ask anyone here to see if they have any experience with this kind of stuff and your thoughts on it.

I can do it
I'll get through it
But I知 only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I知 only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
'Cause I知 only human, yeah

Re: Endometriosis - December 19th 2017, 06:28 AM

Hey there,

I do not know a lot about endometriosis. I know that one of my aunts had that and a few other things. I also know that there are times when people can have it but not get a proper diagnosis right away. Although, that might be a bit different than back when my aunt got diagnosed since more is known and acknowledged about female problems than back when she was dealing with all this.

That being said, I know that my aunt had to discuss it with her OBGYN and she kind of had to push them to look into it. I know that my aunt had a LOT of pain especially during the time she was menstruating and I know she did have issues with her bowels (it sometimes was uncomfortable to go). I don't think that you should jump to the conclusion, based on what you've researched, simply because we can seem to have a lot of the symptoms and not actually have it. I know at one point I thought I might have it and was kind of freaking out and than the doctor told me it wasn't very likely. However, I also think it is great that you did research and now you can talk to your OBGYN and let them know about your current struggles (if they aren't already aware) and let them know that you are curious if it could be related to endemtriosis. Most doctors don't mind talking to their patients and will usually do what they can to ease the patients minds or look into it to determine if the patients concerns are accurate.

Best regards.

Re: Endometriosis - December 19th 2017, 10:00 PM

She doesn't think that the pain is caused from endometriosis and she ran a few tests and said that it may not be that. What it is, is my current birth control, apparently the depo shot isn't strong enough for me. She said that we could go to every 10 weeks, and that two weeks before she gives me the depo shot, she can give me progesterone pills so I don't bleed or have the cramping.

I used to have an IUD but it fell out because my uterus wouldn't accept it, but I heard that they had made a smaller one called Kyleena or something like that, and I asked her about it and if she'd be willing to try inserting another IUD in, and she was agreeable so I'm waiting for a phone call to schedule that.

She said that the cramping is normal for some women during periods, even severe like I had, and told me that I could take a higher dose of ibuprofen that she'd prescribe till I get them under control again.

And about my stomach issues, she gave me a big hug and said she hoped everything turned out okay.

Yeah, severe cramping can occur for woman. I know, I had an acquaintance who suffered really badly from cramps and she didn't have anything like endometriosis etc.

I am glad that you were able to talk to her and, hopefully, find a solution to some of the issues you are experiencing!
