Article Revival: The Benefits of Yoga - July 25th 2019, 01:18 AM

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga is an activity that has a lot of physical and psychological benefits. Over the years I have done yoga and noticed the benefits. I think my favorite part of yoga is the meditation that I would get to do. It felt so relaxing and it was a great way to shut by brain off from overthinking.

I've never done Yoga but I've heard it's supposed to be really good.

I didn't realise how many potential health benefits to yoga there are!

I've wanted to try yoga and I started doing it on the wii fit but didn't have the self-discipline to keep going with it. But I do want to get back into it. I definitely think that since yoga takes a lot of strength and energy to keep the poses that it forces you into living in the moment rather than being distracted and have your mind wander off.

I love yoga I have a pink mat I'm always doing this class with my 2 sister's. I'm not the best with the meditation at the end. I don't like to sit still, but it's okay.

I did yoga once a week for several months at work; we had several lunch time groups. It was pretty fun, and yes very relaxing. It's harder than you think! Really great for the core. Actually our instructors always asked what areas we'd like to work on; you can do just about anything with yoga. They also always ask what joints or body parts people struggle with and bear that in mind. Literally anybody can do it!

I really enjoyed the instruction through the movements, not having to plan or think about what I was going to do like with work-outs. I like that there are various levels of challenge and if you have a good instructor, they will give you 2 or 3 options for each pose, depending on your level, which is fantastic. A good instructor with an understanding that each person is unique in their abilities is the best part of yoga. It's great, it's chill, I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately I had to stop because my wrists couldn't take it. There are a lot of poses in which you can do a fist instead of flat hand on the ground, or maybe you can bring weights or dumbbells to hold. It was too much for me so I had to stop. But I would try it again!

I've tried a few times but I couldn't sit still/keep my mind from wandering off. I think yoga would be especially beneficial for me as I have a problem relaxing.

It sounds like you had a cool experience with yoga before you had to stop. Reading what you wrote makes me want to try it again!

I had teachers when I was younger (k-5th grade) who would have us do yoga. They would do it after we sat for too long and other things like that. I really enjoyed it then.

I want to get back into it but haven't had the time. I bought a new yoga mat and everything... hopefully eventually I'll be able to. I think if I did it with a group of instructor, vs doing it alone, it would probably be easier for me.
