Really scared. Teen w/pain left side? - February 14th 2010, 03:24 AM

I'm absolutely frightened.
I'm a 15 year old girl.
I've been having pains ranging from mainly under my left breast (where I believe to be the heart area) to occasional by my ribs in the same area.
I had an "attack" of somesort when I jumped while dancing. I felt like I ripped something, I'm not really sure. It went on for 10mins, and I was in severe pain, crying and it hurt more when I tried to move.
Since then I've had random come and go pain. It ranges from stabbing (mostly) mild and moderate, and a pressure/throbbing feeling in various parts below my left breast.
It comes and goes, and usually stays for only a second.
I've thought it was cardiac, but I went sledding and had no pain all day. I've done intense DDR on the highest level for a few hrs off and on and had no problems.
I'm not sure what the problem is... D

Maybe you pulled a muscle? From the sounds of it you haven't gone to a doctor though, and that'd be the best thing to do regardless of what it might be. Chest pain is something you should always get checked out, just to be safe.

Go to the doctors. This obviously isn't normal, and we cannot diagnose you. Good luck.

Agreed that you need to go to the doctor, but I'd also like to point out that that's not at all where your heart is, so don't be too concerned about that.

A cardiac attack of any sort is often described as a tightening of the chest, a feeling of breathlessness, and stabbing pains. As soon as you get these pains sit down and stop the activity you are doing, judge the pain on a scale of 1- 10 , 10 being the worst.

Then time yourself for 10 -15 minutes. If the pain hasn't died down after that time then call 999/911. It is also often described as feeling like indigestion.

Do you get dizzy and headaches a lot too?

Although at your age it is unlikely it is actually cardiac - best to get checked out. Considering you did intense physical work today, I think that proved your probably not cardiac :]

Anyway - after all that information - I certainly suggest you see a doctor. It maybe something simple - like having pulled a muscle, but be on the safe side :]

I have a relative with Heart Disease, you get to learn the symptoms :]
Take Care xx

I'm still alive.
Must have been a miracle
It's been one hell of a ride
Destination still unkown
It's a fact of life: If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head
You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead.

I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back
Thats right.
I got away with it all and I'm still alive.
Let the end of the world come tumbling down.
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive.
