Rectal prolapse - April 26th 2010, 07:23 PM

Ok so this is reaally embarassing I think i might have a rectal prolapse or something wrong with me but im not sure. I keep getting diarrea and then constipation and then one day my bum was sore so i looked with a mirror to see if there was something going on (disgusting i know ) and its like when I push a bit (as if i was going to the toilet) these sort of red stringy tube looking things start coming out and it looks horrible and im sure thats not normal. Nothings supposed to come out is it? I dont know what to do cos i obviously cant show anyone and im so embarassed i just want to leave it because its not really hurting me

I can't really diagnose you with a problem here. But it really does sound like there something wrong. I would definitely go and see a doctor as soon as you can. It might be embarrassing but they know what they're doing.

It's really important that you do go to a doctor sooner rather than later. I know it's embarrassing, but your doctor will have seen it all before! Doctors are there to help you and they'll just see you as any other patient - honestly, they're not going to be shocked.

Sounds like piles? Either way you REALLY need to go and see your doctor. I can promise you that nothing you show them or tell them will shock them, they've seen it all before. And yes it might be embarrassing for you but it won't be for them, and they don't care. If you describe it for them really well they might not even need to examine you!

Please, please see a doctor. It could make the situation a lot worse otherwise.

Hey there,

I can understand why you may feel embarrassed about this problem, but there is honestly nothing to be embarrassed about. You seem to have a medical problem which is not your fault and the only way that you'll be able to get help with this is to talk to a doctor. Doctors see many different problems every different day and they won't be shocked or anything - they'll just try and help you.
You really do need a doctor for this issue.

Take care.

I am not a doctor but I am pretty sure that whatever is going on with you is nothing to be alarmed about. I am having a similar problem and i cant get in to see a specialist for a very long time . You may have a hemorrhoid from straining to go to the bathroom, and your bowel habits may be a sign of IBS. Either way, as long as there is no blood or any visible signs of abnormality you shouldn't stress to much. However you have to see a doctor that is the only way that you will find any answers.
