Nauseous, but no throw up? - August 11th 2010, 02:14 PM

Okay so last night i was really really nauseous, like I was positive if I just opened my mouth I would get sick EVERYWHERE, but when I got over the toilet nothing came out, (sorry this is gross haha) but I even gagged a little but nothing! I thought if I got sick I would feel so much better, but I just couldn't! It was so bad I couldn't even sleep! Has anyone else had this happen to them/know what could be causing this or how to make it better?

Thanks, Megan

I can't puke. Like even if I try. I used to be able to, then I sort of trained myself not to, so I wouldn't get sick at parties when I've drank too much. So now, I can't puke at all, and it sucks, a lot.

I wasn't drunk though, this just came out of nowhere, and I've never had trouble with this before...

But since you can't throw up, do you still feel nauseous?

I've had this a few times. It really sucks. I couldn't sleep for two days because of how bad it was. With me I'm pretty sure it was my birth control, but no matter what caused it, it sucked.

Hey there,

Are you on any type of medication at the moment? Some types of medication can cause nausea, and if that's the case it may be worth seeing your doctor for alternatives. Are you feeling dizzy at all or just nauseas? Also, had you eaten recently before feeling like this? If you feel like this again, try to stay sat, or laying down, and take sips of water or juice.

I think it could be worth seeing your doctor anyway, just to check everything over. (:

I hope this helps.

Marie.

Where you upset at the time? If I get really upset or something then I can feel really nauseous, but sometimes I'll sit there gagging and no actual puke will come of its own accord. If it happens again then perhaps doctors?

I'm on birth control, but I've been on it for about 5 months now and never had this reaction. It happened again today too, and it's mostly nausea, but I was a little light headed most of the day, but I was standing at work for a long time so that could be it. For the past few weeks I've gotten nauseous instead of getting hungry, but it was REALLY bad last night and today and got worse after I ate/drank anything/smelled food... I think if I'm still feeling like this tomorrow I'll visit the doctor. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks for all the replies though <3

I get the nausea instead of hunger as well. When that happens I know I have to eat to make it go away. It all depends on whether I'm willing to push through it and force myself to eat or not.

Yes, I do still feel nauseous. Like even if I've eaten something that makes me not feel good, or I have issues with motion sickness, I feel awful, but can't throw up.
And I have the same problem with getting nauseous when I'm hungry. It's horrible.
