Niquitin Products? - September 7th 2010, 05:28 PM

Has anyone tried using Niquitin products to help to stop smoking? I just saw an advert on the telly for Niquitin Minis, which appeared to me as a good idea for my boyfriend. He's wanted to quit for a long time but hasn't managed it.

Have you tried any of these products?
If so, which ones?
Did they work?
Would you recommend any?

Thanks

Hello.

I belive (not from personal experience) they're very good, depending on will power ect.
But a top idea is the electronic cigarettes? which are designed too give you somthing too hold? - as thats what a lot of smokers crave..

They're for sale in local chemists - quite a price i think.
but you only need one i think?

I agree with this, partially. You don't need any products to stop smoking, but they're designed to effectively ween you off of cigarettes, but if you end up getting the wrong strength it can go the complete opposite way. I also heard it was more like a week before it was all out of you body and all of that shizzle.
All you really need is will power and a lot of distractions, perhaps give him another (not so bad) habit? I know that when my grandad gave up he moved on to chewing gum and gave up straight away.

Yes, technically everything that is sold so that someone can provide for themselves and family is there to make money, but that doesn't mean they don't work.

Hey there!

Have you spoken to your doctor regarding stopping smoking? You can get an awful lot of support from your doctor, and a recommendation of what would suit you best. I have to say I have never tried it, but one of my friends has tried the patches which seemed to really help him, and my mum has tried the gum. It's all down to personal preference really!

Don't hesitate to message me.
Marie.

I don't like the Niquitin chewing gums myself, I prefer Nicotinell a lot more If you choose the chewing gum option I'd advice against Niquitin. Then again, you may like them

there's no easy way to quit. All those products are just placebo medicines.

The only way to quit is to quit cold turkey and to realise that all the compromises you make with yourself about quitting later or after the weekend or after this pack (or the next one) is the addiction speaking.

Niquitin suck, Nicorette all the way.
But I did see the advert for the mini's and they do look quite good. Wouldn't hurt to give them a try?
