embarrasing : worms!! ?? - September 7th 2010, 07:16 PM

is it true that worms dont go away unless you treat them?

Before i say anything, i do work on a farm so dont think i go around eating dirt :L

But i think i had worms last week, not really bad, i saw like 2? but i had diarehoa and had an itchy bum (to put it nicely lol!!)

but now i feel better, could they still be there?
and should i get some worming tablets, even though the symptoms have gone?

You don't need treatment for them, but they won't go away completely by themselves, it takes cleanliness and washing that general area properly, also change your bedding often.

They could still be there, I guess you can't be completely sure though, to be on the safe side you should probably take some worming medicine, I think your whole family has to take it though, or something like that.

It's actually fairly easy for worms to spread. You don't need to live on a farm to get them either. Don't feel embarrassed; it's fairly easy to contract worms: such as contact with pets who have worms.

I agree with the previous poster, I believe your whole family would have to take the medicine. A girl at my school got them a few years ago and that is what they had to do.

well it depends really, if its a tape worm they usually bury their head into whatever area they are in, i strongly recommend seeing a doctor and getting checked out AND a prescription, over the counter worming medicine will only work temporrily, if you do have worms and you let this go and just take over the counter meds and your symptoms go away, you could really get sick. your symptoms maygo away but that doesnt mean the worms are gone, seriously i really do strongly suggest you go to your doctor get checked out and get a prescription

Over the counter worming medicines do actually work, maybe not for tape worm, but for thread worm (which is what it sounds like the poster has, or something similar), lots of them actually make you take them twice...

You can go to the doctors if you like, but if you know you have them you can just save time and go to the pharmacist and get something there.

I don't know about you, but If there was even a chance I had worms I would down anything I could to get rid of them.

Depends what kind of worm. For example, ringworm aren't actually worms, It's a fungi.
