When you say infected - do you mean like puss and swollen or like rash and painful?

Keeping them clean is a really good plan, certainly if there are any cuts or open wounds on your fingers, maybe put a plaster on them to stop infection getting to your fingers.

If the conditions persist for longer than week or get any worse - see a doctor

Try Neosporin, it's an antibiotic that helps prevent and heal infections. You could honestly try any over the counter antibiotic cream or ointment, but name brands tend to work better. Is it painful around the infected area? If it doesn't go away after trying the over the counter antibiotics or comes back again, I'd suggest seeing a doctor about it.

try to keep them bandaged with an antibiotic on them and soak them at night it may help but if you are still having issues you may want to takl to a doctor there may be something else going on with them.

Are you getting enough vitamins that your immune system needs? If you're not, your body may be not be able to fight off infection.

Hey there,

As you've already said that it keeps coming back I would recommend already seeing a doctor rather than leaving it any longer. What does it look like and feel like when it is infected? I think for the time before you see your doctor you should try an antibiotic, and keep it covered to prevent anything from getting in them and infecting them further. Is there any reason for them getting infected so often? Any open wounds or substances that you've had on your hands? Remember to wash your hands thoroughly especially if there's wounds, and treat them as necessary.

Feel free to message me.
Marie.

They get slightly swollen and full off puss, only around my fingernails, it hurts a little but not too much. Can't wear plasters since I'm allergiv to them.

Hey again!

Your best bet to keep them covered is buying a couple of these (click) or just using a dressing under a small and thin bandage as an alternative to plasters. They do cost a little more, but they're really easy to take off and keep checking the wound rather than changing the plaster each time. Are you ensuring that you're keeping your hands clean and away from whatever is irritating them?

I don't use anything that irritates them, and there's no wounds as far as I can see, just randomly gets infected :/ Quite confusing really.

i STRONGLY suggest and urge you to go see your doctor, you probably need antibiotics. its better to get it looked at now then to wait. i waited to go to the doctor when i got sick in october of 2007 right after having major surgery in september of 2007, turns out i had a severe case of walking pneumonia(walking pneumonia is when the pneumonia actually walks around in your lungs) i was lucky that i didnt need to be hospitalized. please seriously think about going to see your doctor.

I was born with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis, it causes tumors to grow in my body on nerves,my spine, and under my skin. I have a tumor in the thalamus region of my brain. I also have heartburn, hypothyroidism and secondary adrenal insufficiency these are under control with medication.
I also have hip dysplasia and scoliosis.
