Feeling dizzy after caffeine. Bad? - September 19th 2010, 05:36 PM

I get that shaky, jittery, sort of off my head feeling like everyone else when I have caffeine. I'm not particularly worried because I know that's normal. Not necessarily healthy, but normal. What I don't get is why I felt so dizzy this afternoon after just two cups of tea. It was one straight after another (jokingly labelled as "chain-drinking" by my friend) and it made me feel really weird. I decided not to drive home 'cos I felt so dizzy. Is this normal?

I have to say, either I've sneakily been given decaf all my life, or caffine just doesn't really affect me, but I've never had that feeling, so I can't relate. Had you drunk much water during the day - you could possibly have been a little dehydrated, though it's not likely. Also, if you stood up quickly, that mgith have caused it. I'd advise you to stay off the caffine until you're sure though.

I drank lots of water during the week while I was at college, but not so much over the weekend. I guess it could be that. I was drinking tea standing up though! It's weird; my friend has goodness knows how many cups a day and she didn't relate to it at all. I suppose it could be me rather than the caffeine

Hey! I found this online:
You may be experiencing a number of physical ailments that could
be caused solely from caffeine. The most common side effects of
caffeine include dizziness, headache, irritability, muscle
tension, nausea, nervousness, stuffy nose, unusual tiredness and
jitters.

Too much (overdose) of caffeine can give you all sorts of grief
such as stomach pain agitation, anxiety, restlessness,
confusion, seizures, dehydration, faster breathing rate, fast
heartbeat, fever, frequent urination, increased sensitivity to
touch or pain, irritability, muscle trembling or twitching,
vomiting, sometimes with blood, fibrocystic breast disease,
ringing or other sounds in ears, seeing flashes of "zig-zag"
lights, and trouble in sleeping. If you are diabetic or insulin
resistant, caffeine causes your body to produce more insulin and
you don't want that. Caffeine makes all aspects of a menstrual
cycle worse. Isn't that bad enough some months?

There's a good chance you were dehydrated, so when you ingested caffeine, it made you become even more dehydrated, which caused lass blood to enter your brain, which makes the dizzy feeling.

Caffiene always does that to me. It also tends to make me feel really light headed. I don't know if it is normal or not, but because I get so bad with it no one lets me have it anymore. Haha. It might just be a normal thing from the caffiene, because it can cause syptmoms such as those. I also deal with insulin resistence though, so that may be part of it. I don't know. :/ The only thing that I have found to make it not happen, is to just not drink things with caffiene in it anymore. I get de-caf. Not as amazing, but still. =]
