Glandular fever - September 24th 2010, 05:32 PM

I went to the doctors last weekend and he told me I had probably got glandular fever. He said as I'd been sick with the symptoms since July I was at the tail end and not contagious, he gave me 2 weeks of work and told me I had to rest or I wouldn't get better. He said my glands would still be swollen (which they weren't so bad when I saw him) and my spleen and liver might be swollen and hurting. He also told me there was nothing but painkillers he could recommend.
It's a week later and now both sides of my throat are swollen. It was only the right side before and had gone down loads. And I keep getting really sharp pains in my left side, which I've since found out is where my spleen is.
Can anyone recommend anything to make the throat stop swelling? Or calm my spleen? I've tried painkillers, throat remedies, lemon juice and pineapple juice for the throat ... I know you can't diagnose etc etc was just wondering if anyone has had it and could help? Thanks

Re: Glandular fever - September 24th 2010, 05:39 PM

I thought I had glandular fever before. I had all those symptoms and everything. But a blood test showed that it wasn't glandular fever (and I don't even know what it was). All I did to get through it was to take as many painkillers as I could have, relax and sleep as much as possible and keep stressfree like having nice cool baths and things like that.

I hope I helped. Take care.
