Mononucleosis! - October 15th 2010, 04:21 PM

I've missed all this week of school due to a sore throat, a fever, headaches, and ear pain. Today I went to the doctor for a second time and I found out that I have mono. I know it's not technically treatable with any drugs, but are there any small things that helped you guys feel better when you had this horrendous disease?

when you love and laugh abundantly you live a beautiful life.

-hot showers are great.
-ibproubphen helps reduce the fever/and any pains. and swelling in your throat- mine did this and made my throat real sore.
-cough drops. i like menthol ones a lot to cool and soothe the throat.

Mhmm, advil reduces swelling. I know mine was so swollen that I couldn't swallow.
Orange soda helped my sore throat, no idea why. Pudding and Jello are always good, and Italian Ice. Pretty much anything cold and smooth.
Do NOT have tomato soup. That burned like HELL for me

Isn't mono the same as glandular fever? If it is...ICE CREAM. I ate bucketloads. Uber soothing and tasty too. Just keep topped up on vitamins, drink plenty and sleep lots, and keep dosed up on the pain meds I had it for 2 months
