Gag reflux? - November 11th 2010, 01:47 AM

Do occasionally I get the urge to throw up, but it's not like my stomach feels nauseous or anything, I just get that feeling in my throat that makes it feel like I'm gonna blow chunks.

It used to happen occasionally, but it's been happening all day today. This morning I forgot to take my medicine (I take lorezapem and Lexapro for anxiety) and I felt just a little anxious before my first class. During class I felt fine, but then my throat did the weird gag reflux. So then I started getting anxious because I thought I was gonna throw up.

I had to go down to the nurses office where I got to eat peanut-butter crackers and juice. =/ I felt better after that. It was like the gagging was dulled a little. I felt better until about the time I got home, then it started happening again.

Idk if it's anxiety- even if it's not, it causes me to become anxious, which makes it worse. But some times it occurs when I'm not even feeling anxious!

Help!

Hey there,

As you said, you forgot your medication in the morning so anxiety is most likely the cause. I think it is your anxiety that's doing this to you, obviously the medication can't completely 'fix' the anxiety, and you're still struggling with it sometimes. Perhaps you could speak to your doctor and find some ways to handle this! I'd recommend drinking water to hopefully calm down your gag reflex.

Marie.
