Food Allergies - December 11th 2010, 11:25 PM

Is there anyone out there who suffers from food allergies?

My entire life I've always had problems with food. I just couldn't keep anything down, some things more than others. We never thought much about it, always thinking it was one thing or another. Last year I saw and allergist and found out I was allergic to soy and pork. It wasn't until this past summer that we finally looked more into it because my episodes were getting so bad. Turns out my system finds foods to be like poisons.

As a result, at 22 years of age I'm having to take an equavelent to what I call "old people medicine" (ie Prozac). It does help with most foods but I still can't eat pork products. Even the slightest hint of pork and I get sick. And the way I can tell if something has pork or if a utensil was used on pork is that within minutes I get sick.

I absolutely hate it. There are times when I'm not near a restroom so I just end up throwing up near the side of a road or some place. It can be quite embarassing but there are times when I just can't make it. Sucks that there's no cure for pork allergies. I don'tmind watching what I eat but when it comes to pork that's when things can get dicey. Even if regular beef isn't 100% I have to guestimate and that doesn't help much so from now on I'm just gonna stop eating beef all together.

So anyone else suffer from these annoying food allergies?

I don't suffer from the food allergies that you are talking about, but I do have some lactose intolerance, so I can't drink milkshakes and other various milkshakes.
I'm sorry for what you go through though. It must be quite frustrating!

My mom is allergic to shrimp though.
