Nose bleeds whilst having a cold - December 17th 2010, 04:23 PM

Everytime I have quite a bad cold/flu I get nose bleeds :| I'm guessing it has something to do with all the crap being up my nose and me blowing it all the time.

I just had quite a bad nose bleed I had to use about five tissues.

I'm just wondering is it normal or worrying?

It's normal. I've asked my doctor before and he said there's nothing to worry about as long as they're not going on all day without stopping. I always get them when I have a cold- sometimes they go on for more than half an hour and use up far more than five tissues.

Good good I was slightly worried. I used to have nose bleeds a lot as a child but I only get them when I have a cold/flu now.

I'll just try not to blow my nose as much

I hardly ever have nosebleeds, but if I do then it's just when I have a cold. As long as they're not constant then it should be okay - I think it's pretty common actually.

Try buying nasal spray to keep your nose moist. Squirt it up your nose 1-2 times a day.

Also, humidifers do wonders. to keep your room moist while you sleep. If you don't want to buy one, you can fill a good size container of hot water and put it near where your heat blows out, to moisten the air.

Usually, if you get constant nose bleeds, it's because of the dry hair during the cold months.
