Angry Can't Sleep - December 28th 2010, 03:39 PM

Last night I stayed up until 3 because I wasn't even very tired until then. When I finally went to bed I just laid there, unable to sleep until I noticed the sun rising, then I completely passed out. This has happened on school nights too, only I lay there until 3 a.m and I only get 3 hours of sleep. My dad has Sleep Apnea, but I Googled it and it definitely isn't that. Is this normal or should I try going to a doctor?

I have a similar issue. I already go to numerous doctors for different health conditions I have, (GI doctor, Endocrin, neurologist, pediatritian, psychiatrist, etc..) and they didnt really offer anything other than a CT scan to see if somthing was up, which, there wasnt.

I typically take Melatonin to sleep. Its an over the counter herbal tablet that helps you sleep. I belive they sell them in 300 and 500 mg. i usually take 1 300 and im out like a light, and still able to wake up the next morning no problem.

You could give that a shot. Other than that, the obvious calm yourself down before you try to sleep, listen to relaxing music or mute a tv, have it on somthing boring, drink some warm fluids and just lay down.

Hope this helps.. (:

Actually its normal. Most people dont notice this but if you get into the habbit of falling asleep at that time then most likely it will happen even if you dont want it to..

I have the same problem. I cant sleep either. But i buy a sleeping pill at my pharamcy. On my bottle i read

maximum strength
sleep aid
diphenhydramine hydrochloride, 50 mg
helps reduce difficulty falling asleep
safe & effecive
go to sleep fast!
just one softgel per dose
safe non habit forming

there is 64 in my bottle. They are not much MG, only 50. and they help me fall asleep. try looking it up if you want. But thats what i take..

It's nice to know that this is completely normal, I'm going to have to check those out because I hate waking up feeling exhausted from not being able to sleep.

Yeah, alot of times when I'm on break I fall asleep to Food Network, which I was trying to do last night but I just couldn't. On school nights I just listen to music from musicals or Glee and that tends to really calm me down before I sleep.

I have a lot of trouble with sleep, and although I'll probably get a lot of people angry at me by saying this, the thing that works best for me is smoking pot. It tires you out, and you sleep great. The only downfall is getting up the next morning is nearly impossible. I'm not suggesting this, simply saying what works for me. Hope that you can get this sorted out soon. Best of Luck.

Caleb
