Exclamation incontinence and money? - September 23rd 2011, 05:23 AM

First off, I am not sure if this is the right place...so.

I am urinary incontinenet day and night. I wet about 2 times a day and every night my concern is my foster mother doesn't have very much money and it costs a lot for diapers, $15 or so a pack. She bought a pack last wednsday and I am already down to 1 diaper in the pack. I feel horrible about having to spend so much on diapers and buy a pack about once every week or so. What should I do? I have been incontinenet for about 2 years now and it has recently picked up from 1 wet diiaper a day to 2 or so, always been wet at night...

P.s sorry for typos if any I am writing on my phone as I don't have any money for a new computer for school and I am legally blind.

Since it is just urinary incontinence, have you considered using the reusable/washable diapers? Yes, they will seem a lot more expensive when you first buy them, but in the long run they are cheaper.

I assume yours is not treatable? Most cases are treatable.

I am sorry you have to worry about this type of thing. Hopefully we can come up with some ideas to help

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

Wait.

Why are you incontinent? Have you had that evaluated by an MD? These things are usually treatable.

You're treating the symptom here instead of fixing the root problem. If you haven't been to a doc, go to one and let them figure out why this is happening and treat it properly, maybe you won't need diapers at all.

PM me with the link of the post you'd like me to respond to.

Have you seen a doctor about this? A lot of the time, incontinence is treatable. Also, if yours is not, have you heard of conveens? they're basically a sheath that goes over the penis and then attatches to a catheter bag, so you don't need to use diapers. The catheter bags usually only need to be changed once every couple of days so it might work out cheaper for you. Good luck

Thanks for the replys guys. Yes I have been to a lot of doctors, no its not treatable as it is a condition of being bornn at 23 weeks, mother trying to self abort, injuries and stress in life. Also I don't react to medicine well and so the docs just let it be. I dont really like catheterswe find diapering me to be easier and descreate? Just a side question does anyone know any good diapers to try? Ones that don't leak. I don't like depends adjustable at all. Depends max. Is great but is noisy...thanks in advance.

I've heard Molicare Super Plus Overnight Briefs is good.

Though, Abena has many different types with leak guards. Check them out.
I found a comparison chart with Abena and Molicare with the different types they offer here.

Hopefully you can find something that helps.

as a girl I like the Tena briefs (had a bad period where i was having up to 17 seizures a day and losing bladder and bowel control on most of them) but I'm sorry, I wouldn't know if the men's ones worked as well. You can get a free sample at their website. you also might have more luck finding your diapers for cheaper there.

Good Luck!
