Upset stomach 24/7?

Hi,

I'm not sure what's going on with my stomach. From the time I wake up, 'til the time I fall asleep, 9/10 times I feel sick. Now many have said that perhaps I just have a nervous stomach. Well okay, but if it's so bad, then how come doing something fun doesn't always help? It's truly upsetting me. No matter what I do(activity wise), I feel sick, and eating/drinking certain things makes no difference either.

I've had these issues for a few years, but not NEARLY as bad as this. It's only been TRULY bad for the last few months. My mother has looked at different specialists to examine me, but unfortunately I am a minor and they will not see me(which I find is very unreasonable, as adults are not the only ones with health problems).

Normally, I am afraid of seeing doctors, operations, and taking pills. But at this point, it is so unbearable that I will do/take ANYTHING(whether it be operations, or pills etc) to make this go away. I'm not living;I'm suffering. Now I've had a rough year, and had a MASSIVE case of depression. This of course, no doubt probably added to it. Is it normal for a 17 year old, to feel sick this often? I've tried anti-acids(such as Tums), motion sickness medicine(don't remember the name), and even acid reducers, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on with me? Any comments/advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated.

P.S: I also cannot have bloodwork done, as I pass out EVERY TIME. This may or may not have anything to do with it, but at this point every little detail counts.

If it's that bad, you should definitely speak to a doctor about it. You can't really expect to get a diagnosis here since none of us are qualified to give you one, I'm sorry. Why are they reluctant to see you? If you're sincerely having a problem, you should insist that you be seen. Have you tried getting a referral through your GP?

I'm really sorry you're not feeling brilliant. I hope you're able to determine the cause of it soon.

They will not see me because apparently they can't help minors. Only people 18+. I find that ridiculous

That is really ridiculous. I know some places minors aren't allowed to go unless accompanied by an adult. If you're hurting this bad, you should sit down with one of these people and talk with them to see if anything can be worked out. Do you have a regular doctor you see? They may be able to make arrangements so that you can get the care you need without having to deal with this.

I'm really sorry. I don't think I've heard of anything so awful before.

do you get upset stomach when you eat dairy? maybe you're lactose intolerant...just a thought though.

Yes, I have a doctor, but unfortunately they have not referred me(or my parents) to anyone that could help further, so it seems I'm being screwed over. Yes it's ridiculous.

Depends on the dairy. In reality, my stomach is upset whether I eat, drink or don't do either. Wasn't kidding when I said 24/7. But yes some things irritate me more than others, although I haven't gotten to finding them out yet. I'm thinking I may be lactose intolerant slightly, but I think there may be more to it. I'm not sure though; I'm out of ideas, hence my being here.

I've been having the same thing for a few years off and on but the past few months I've been feeling sick all day every day,I end up gaging all the time and even throwing up atleast once most days.You should try to get a scope done (I forget the actual name right now) to see your stomach.It could be alot of things from a stomach ulcer to your food just not digesting quickly enough

A friend of mine had similar problems and she found she was gluten intolerant (coeliac) ... it was hard to detect because most things have gluten in so even changing her diet didn't help.
You may have to have bloodwork done. I know you said you pass out, but this sounds like the kind of issue that is more important than passing out once. I also pass out when blood is taken, and I know it's horrible but sometimes it's neccessary. I don't know if you've tried this, but lying down when having the blood taken can help ease the faint ... like not making it as unpleasant.
Do you mind if I ask what country you're in? Because in some places you can appeal to medical boards as a minor to get treatment usually only given to adults ...

I had the same thing and they diagnosed me with acid reflux. Have you tried prescription strength acid reducers? Tums didn't do much for me either. If it were an ulcer it would feel better when you eat. Try to find a pediatric gastroenterologist. I had an upper GI and it showed up.

No, I do not have any pain. It strictly is a sick feeling. It is rare for me to throw up though, despite me feeling like doing so every day.

Bloodwork sucks....yes I know it is necessary, but many do not understand the feeling when you come to after fainting. The best way to explain it in my opinion, is it feels like you're dying. I do not mind, I'm in the western part of the U.S.

No I have not tried that yet. I suppose I'm working my way up to that. My best friend has ulcers, and he swore I had them as well, but like you said, I would have felt better by eating, and depending on the situation it could be better or worse.

Appreciate all the "hope you feel better soon" or "sorry you're feeling so ill". Hope I do too....

If you go to someone for this they are probably going to want to do the blood test to check for the bacteria that causes ulcers, even if you don't have them. As soon as I started on the medication I was better within less than an hour and my symptoms are nearly identical to yours. Hope you get this figured out, I know how bad it feels. If it helps I've never actually thrown up from this but I've definitely wanted to.

It could be anything and it sounds like going untreated, it will only get worse.

I'd highly recommend seeing a doctor about this

Yes, this is completely unbearable. As you said, it's only getting worse. Trying to go to a doctor/specialist but nobody is being very helpful thus far.

Kate, if I must do blood work tests to figure out what's going on with me, and if it will help cure me, then I'll do so. Can't live with this, it's too unpleasant. Gotta continue to try though.
