Too much pain? - October 27th 2011, 07:57 PM

I've been in a fair amount of pain for like 10 days now. It goes from my hips, up to the bottom of my ribs on my back and sides. It started off around my kidneys and has spread a bit now. They quite often ache as I have polycystic kidney disease, but not usually for this long. It's mostly a dull ache, with waves of a slightly sharper pain and when I pee my sides hurt. I'm guessing it's probably something to do with my PKD, but since i'm not in agony or anything, I don't know whether or not to go to my doctor. Paracetamol helps a little, but most of the time i try not to take it. Do you reckon this is something to see the doctor about? I don't wanna go there and have them think I'm just a hypochondriac.

If you think it could be to do with your PKD, and it's worse than normal, I would definitely go see a doctor. Just explain to him that the pain is worse than normal, and ask if he can do a check or whatever. Usually a change in symptoms means a change in the cause.

Hope everything's okay! <3
