I faceplanted the bath... - October 30th 2011, 07:47 PM

Exactly what the title says. Yesterday I stood on the side of the bath to reach over and get the shampoo from the shelf by the shower so I could wash my hair over the sink. But I slipped and landed face first, sprawled, across the side of the bath.

It did make a pretty loud noise, my head was in a lot of pain all over and I panicked I'd broken my jaw. Mostly now I just have some bruising on my leg and a cut on my chin. But the left side of my face still hurts. Just at the bottom of my jaw, especially if it hits/touches/brushes against something. I haven't been to a doctor or hospital or anything because I figured it'd pass, and my face isn't bruised. But should it still hurt this much when it was nearly 36 hours ago?
Just wondering if it's worth getting x-rayed or if it's just bruised.

You could have possibly bruised it but if you're worried then I would recommend going to the doctor/hospital to get it checked just in case.

I have to say, if I were you, I would go to the hospital just to be sure.

But that's just me.

Does it feel as if your teeth are aligned? Can you bite down normally? If you find any changes to your normal 'bite'/teeth alignment then i'd suggest going to the hospital and getting it checked.

It's most likely just a bruise underneath the skin. I've had this happen to me before. I'd bump into something, not experience a bruise but was wondering why it still hurt to the touch. Of course, if you're extremely worried about it, I'd get it checked out with a doc to make sure nothing is truly wrong.

You have probably bruised the bone, but it might be best to go and get checked out just in case.

Well considering the smallest pressure is painful and ibuprofen/paracetamol isn't even touching it, I might wait it out until Friday and see the doctor then if it's still as bad. It's annoying me.

Thanks for your replies, everyone!

Unless you do something like boxing and let yourself get punched in the face a lot to get used to it, your jaw area can get bruised quite badly quite easily. The bruise might not look obvious, but it'l be there. In the worst scenario, in this case, I'd say it could be fractured.

If you've got some spare time, read this:

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
