Fracture and another injury - December 20th 2011, 10:34 AM

Two separate issues altogether:

1. When I was training 4 days ago, I fractured my knuckle on my left hand. It wasn't bleeding, or bruised, but the fracture does sting quite bad sometimes. Does anyone here know any way of dealing with this sort of pain? I'm thinking of some sort of gel or cream you can rub into it, but I don't know any names... so does anyone here know something that could help? I've had this before... and it goes away with time, usually taking 2 weeks to completely heal, and usually I just deal with it but this time I've screwed it up pretty bad.

2. A while ago, I had an injury in my lower stomach. I'm past that now, but my lower stomach muscles have always been somewhat "retarded" in development. My upper stomach holds together, and my lower bulges out slightly, and bulges out a lot after I eat. I know most people have this problem to some degree (bulging lower stomach), but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't given the amount of exercise I do.

I need some ideas for exercises, that very specifically work out the lower stomach region. It's not the body image I'm worried about... I have a feeling it's affecting my digestion patterns, and affecting how often I have to urinate. I'll be seeing a doctor and all that stuff after Christmas.

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.

1. You should see a doctor to be sure it's just a fracture. But to help pain at home, use an ice packs which will numb it and reduce swelling. If it's less painful in a few days then switch to a heat compress. Use some Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is likely what they would prescribe you anyway.

2. Good to see a doctor. I'm not sure what your injury was, but with the information given I do not see how a loose/bulging stomach could cause frequent urination. I'll take your word for it though :P
One thing you can do is crunches or sit-ups. These tighten the muscles around your abs. Push-ups will work on abs as well, and upper body strength.

Hope this helps some.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

1. The strange thing is there's no swelling, at all. It's a little bit reddish. I might ask in a pharmacy if they have any ideas.

2. I do those exercises already... I've read up here and there since posting earlier and it occurred to me that Yoga has some good exercises, that would probably break my spine at the same time. I've figured out something out though that suits me more and I might try it out soon. Thanks anyway.

That is strange. Yeah, a pharmacy should be able to give you some suggestions.

And alright, good luck!
