Need to lose weight, but don't know how, - January 11th 2012, 06:21 PM

I am very very unfit, and I would like to lose weight,
But I don't know any exercises I could do for say, an hour a day, or 30 mins a day to lose the body fat on my stomach,
Anyone got any advice?

Your best bet is googling something like this. Their are many websites out their that provide you with workout plans that you can do in your own home, without any special equipment. Or just start walking! I've seen people loose allot of weight by walking!

I agree. You want to kind of start out small and figure out what you body can take right now. Just try to get out there and walk once in a while. Grab a friend or family member to make it more enjoyable. I also agree because the internet is a great way to find tricks on excersising and eating right. They will give you numerous tips to help you stick with it. Good Luck!

You don't need to suddenly throw yourself into an intensive hour-long workout. Try going for a 20 minute walk a couple of times a week. Then speed walk it. Then jog it. Build yourself up, don't throw yourself in at the deep end <3

Building up is the best thing you can do. Exercising is going to help you lose weight, but so will healthy eating. Cut out junk foods for a while, and eat a couple SMALL meals a day. More is less, in this case (I got my source from a well known fitness instructor to the stars). Those small meals will only work if you eat healthy foods, like adding in vegetables, fruits and eating meat high in protein, like fish and chicken.

Well, I made a chilli today, but I got quorn mince instead of normal mince,
And for my workout, I decided to do the Boss Challenge mode on the Legend of Zelda skyward sword a few times on the wii each day, it may not seem like alot, but i put my life size resin shield near my nunchuck controller, to add a bit of weight to that arm, and I move around alot more when playing instead of standing in one place or sitting down the entire time.
That may help for a while,
I'm going to start walking the mile and a half treck to college when I'm in aswell, instead of getting a bus.

Do you like DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)? When I blew my knee out and gained a lot of weight back.. I started playing DDR for hours each day. Not only is it fun, but when you start getting better, you have to move much more, and you really get a decent workout.

I did play one of the lets dance 2 on the wii sometime ages ago which was pretty fun, I looked like a prat, but heck, I had a laugh while doing it, so if I can get that cheap I might try to get that.

Hi there,

You need to gradually exercise more. Start off going for a brisk 30 minute walk, and gradually build up, so go for long walks to begin with and when you feel more confident in yourself go for a jog.
If it's your stomach that you want to tone sit ups are going to help tone that area of your body, but don't go mad on them to begin with start with doing 5 maybe and gradually build up. It's going to take a little while for your body to adjust to work outs and you don't want to strain or injure yourself.
Healthy diet and exercise together are both important, so try to avoid junk food, chocolate things like that, eat plenty of fresh food and vegetables.
