Eating - January 18th 2012, 09:26 PM

I went on some medication that made me sick, so i was eating little to nothing. Now i've adjusted to the medication, but i seem to have lost my appetite. I know i'm not eating enough. When i eat, i get full really fast so i just stop.

Is this bad? My therapist says i might gain weight if i don't eat enough. I don't want to gain weight, but i don't want to eat more and it doesn't seem like i need to. I've actually been losing weight.

Basically is this going to mess with my metabolism and why am i not hungry at all?

Note: I do not have an eating disorder. I never have.

Re: Safe to eat 800-1000 calories a day? - January 18th 2012, 09:33 PM

It's not healthy to eat that amount of calories but just so you know; it's against the code of conduct to write calorie numbers so this post will most likely be edited.

You can't delete it, you can only edit it.

Re: Eating - January 19th 2012, 02:35 PM

Hey there, not a big deal

Let's see if I can assist you any! As for not wanting to eat...I've had this issue a lot. I have no idea why. I just don't feel hungry until my stomach is grumbling and I'm in pain. So what my doctor has told me is to eat 6 small meals a day at a set time.

This way it's not 3 large meals because I cannot eat large meals at once. So maybe have a poptart in the morning, Early afternoon grab a small bowl of cereal. Lunch eat a sandwich or two. Mid afternoon eat a small salad. Dinner eat a larger meal than the rest, but not enough to fill a bowl or plate. And then have a small snack an hour after dinner. Such as some pudding or something.

Make your proportions small. If you are still hungry, eat some fruit or trail mix. This way you will still eat your next meal. Once you start feeling hungry after several of these meals, try going to four or five meals a day. Increasing the proportions a bit until you are able to eat three normal size meals a day.

If you're eating like this, then you should maintain your weight. Exercise is always a great way to stay in shape. Eat the right foods and proportions and you will - again - maintain your weight.
