Kind of Gross: Rash? - February 3rd 2012, 02:43 AM

I am not sure what it is. If it's a rash or not, or if I should be worried or not.

My genital area has a lot of dry skin. It's been this way for a few months.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the "rash" or not.

But, I started to get these perfect circular marks around my upper inner thing, and it is now spreading in all directions.

It's going towards my genital are and turning into this dark tan color, and then there are bigger circles around where it started.

It's not itchy, painful, or anything but concerning.

It kind of looks like open cigarette burns, by darker, and they aren't open wounds. It looks like it would be an open wound, but it's not. The circles are rough, the middle of a circle is the darkest... The outside is whiter then my normal skin tone.

I've never had this before, and I showed my mom and she has never seen it before. I can't find anything on the Internet including on webmd.com

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? My mom says it's probably some type of rash but she isn't sure. Anyone have this before?

If I were you i'd go to your doctors. A circular rash pattern can be found in a whole variety of things. Anything from a tick bite to a Staph skin infection. If it is a Staph Skin infection then it'll begin to get itchy. But try to resist it. Also, another thing you can do is to draw around where the rash stops. So it can show the progression of the rash day by day. I hope this helps.

To me, it sounds a bit like ringworm. I had ringworm back in high school. I had a gym class that took place in our "wrestler's gym" which was never cleaned at the end of wrestling matches, and a bad spout of ringworm go to the wrestlers, as well to us girls who used that gym to participate in class. Ringworm is a round, rash type. But, as Lottie said, it could be anything! I'd suggest going to the doctor. If it IS ringworm, it can be cleared up with an antibiotic. If it's dry skin, they'll recommend using some moisturizing lotion. If it's anything more serious, they'll definitely give you proper treatment for it.

It's not itchy or painful, no burning or stinging.... It's just there. How does one get ringworm? I have a doctors appointment Tuesday, I just didn't want to go and have it be something stupid, that I could have treated for by myself.
