Futile PostI know - February 3rd 2012, 08:48 PM

I know there is nothing anyone can do(unless there happens to be a super genius doctor who could solve my issue from afar). So I guess what I really want is just support?
I was diagnosed last year with Crohn's Disease. I have only had real minor issues .This week has been horrible though. I was having to move my bowels after everything i ate, now they aren't moving at all but are in that awkward feeling where it feels like you have to go but nothing happens except little leaks ( sorry I know its gross, but thus is life with an IBD...). I went to the walk in clinic at the health center here today but noone who would know anything was available So i have to wait for my appointment monday to have someone listen to my gut and push on it and such.

I dont know if in the mean time I should try moving my bowels or what?

Life with IBD is hard. Have you tried using some stool softners such as senakot or senna? I'm going to guess you're from the UK due to you mentioning the walk-in-center. If you're not happy with the treatment you got then either go to A+E or see if there is another walk-in-center near you.

Also, ensure that you keep your fluid intake up. Bowels tend to slow down when you're more dehydrated. Also having good posture on the toilet can sometimes help with opening your bowels. You sit with your feet raised a bit off the floor. Like this:

I hope this helps and that you manage to open your bowels soon.

You should have a look at the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It's used as a dietary approach to decrease (and in some cases stop) symptoms from Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, Autism, etc. I don't have Crohn's disease, but I do have IBS, so I'm pretty sure Crohn's must suck! However, I think you will benefit a lot from talking to the doctor- at least I hope so.
