Throbbing pain in lower left back of head? - April 5th 2012, 07:50 AM

I was on the wii, the other day, and jumped awkwardly. Immediately, I had a throbbing pain on the left, right at the back of my head. I sat back down, and was clutching my head. After about 15 seconds, the throbbing went away but it still hurt. 3 days after, I get the pain when I get up in the mornings and if i sit awkwardly or exercise. I just wanted to know if it was serious? I tried looking it up on google, but most people said they had MRI and cat scans and came back clear but were suffering from this and nausea, no sleep, blurred vision, fits etc. But I havent had any of those things...so I'm trying to convince myself that it's not serious (since my family don't think it is) but I'm scared it might be serious

Internet diagnosis, bleh.

Head injuries that require immediate medical attention usually include symptoms like fainting, blurring vision, etc...you know, the serious stuff. What you're describing, even though it's in your head, is probably a muscle strain resulting from the 'Jump' that you describe...a sudden jerk can result in hyper extension of the muscle, causing some minor damage and therefore pain, which will last a few days until it heals.

If you develop other symptoms, or the pain gets worse, call a doc.

I agree with Dr. Bobby. Since it happened when you jumped and you have no other symptoms, it's likely something in your muscle. It should stop hurting in a few days. If it gets worse or you develop other symptoms, let your family know and try to get in to see a doctor.

Thanks guys! I agree, it shouldn't be serious, but if I do develop symptoms or it gets worse then yeah, I will tell my parents. I just get worried about these things, which makes everything worse. And I know Internet diagnosis is bad, but I just wanted to know that's all. Thanks guys
