Drinking Age limits..... - April 24th 2009, 07:40 PM

Can anyone tell me all the drinking age limits in the UK??

We were told in school that from the age of 14 we could have a drink with our parents for a sit-down meal.....it seems this isnt case?!?

Either that - I look like a12 year old. lol

But yea...any help??

To buy, it is eighteen and to drink with family at home and restaurants and such with parental permission is sixteen.

Always remember to put your happiness first.

You can drink in a restaurant from the age of 14, but it they have to have some form of permit, and not all restaurants do,
otherwise its 18 to buy it.

It's only illegal for those aged 5-17 to drink alcohol on licensed premises (e.g. a restaurant) butthey may legally drink alcohol elsewhere.

The legal age to purchase alcohol is 18. People aged 16 and 17 may consume alcohol (excluding spirits, I think) provided they are with an adult and an adult orders it. You're allowed into a pub when you're 14 with an adult.
