Medication... - January 15th 2009, 06:45 PM

I've been prescribed Prozac, for the depression/anxiety disorder that the nurse psychiatrist believes I have, like my mom. The generic brand is cheap enough so I can take it every month. Hope it works...

Starting with 10 mg doses tomorrow.

It takes a few weeks to get into the blood stream to start working, but once it's in it does help.

You should be aware of a few side effects though, such as weight loss (most people dont mind that!) and this one people often overlook this.

BE VERY careful with alcohol consumptions. Prozac basicly stops the alcohol from being processed as fast, as a result you can get drunk very quickly. So if you are drinking, drink very slowly on a night out because seriously you will just get out of your face on a few drinks!

Yes, it does take about 6 weeks to work fully. I have been on prozac before and I didn't find it helpful. I hope it helps you.

Weight -loss-? I was warned of possible weight -gain-. Meep, I want to gain a bit of weight, not lose it, lol.

I'm 16 and my mother was an alcoholic for much of my life, and alcohol tastes foul to me. I don't think that will be a problem ;P

(err, yeah, oopsie, someone looks banned. *pokes

I have a feeling it's just my body fooling me, but I feel decent right now. I've decided I'm taking a dose every day at 4. I get home at around 4 every day, or earlier, and I feed the cats every day at 4. So I'd always take it.
