Problems that might be caused from acid and the like - May 27th 2009, 12:33 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of substance use, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I have had a history of drug abuse, and I have tried a lot of hard drugs, almost ruining my life. I haven't really had too many problems that I might ever direct to the drugs. I was depressed and very socially awkward, I could talk to people just fine, but I was constantly thinking about what they were doing and saying, and thinking about what exactly I should say, nothing came naturally it seemed.

Anyway, these problems are still here, some worse, some have started, but in the past several weeks I have been eating mushrooms and have tried lsd several times. I think that either its just coincidence in timing, or they might of changed something in my head. I just feel different, I can't stop thinking about some of the things I thought about and scene while tripping. It's like so many things seem foreign now, I feel like I'm so far away from the rest of the world. Does anyone have any knowledge on whether or not the two things are related?

If you've been dropping acid and shrooms a lot in the past while you may be experiencing some lasting effects. When I used to eat shrooms every weekend I'd experience very slight hallucinations whenever I stared at my monitor, and several friends have shared similar experiences after times of heavy use.

Also, have you ever done psychedelics in the past? If not, psychedelics can make you look at things differently and think of things from different perspectives, which can leave you feeling funny, especially if you've been doing them a lot.

Just chill out on the drugs and after a few days you should be feeling back to normal. Be careful with psychedelics, they're powerful stuff and shouldn't be used lightly. Also, if you have a personal/family history of mental illness you should stay away from psychedelics, they can exacerbate latent and existing illness.

I've tried acid quite awhile ago, just never so often. I realize that it makes you look at things in a different perspective, but I haven't done anything for a little over a week now. I don't think there is any history of mental illness, but I don't really have too many known family members to base it off of. I really want to start back up, it's the only thing that made things seem in way, normal. I realize its kind of a way to escape, but still is that so wrong?

Hallucinogens are something I would never do as a pasttime and I would strongly advise against it to anyone else who does that. I love hallucinogens, they are my favorite drug, but it mindfucks with your over time if you constantly do it. Although the risk of long term psychological effects aren't as common for fellow trippers, I would stop doing them so much. Constantly doing hallucinogens can eventually screw with your psyche and make you hallucinate even when you're sober. I'm not necessarily talking about flashbacks, but pure hallucinations that last longer than that and it may also cause slight to moderate depression and confusion. Try to occupy your time with something productive, because hallucinating all the time is not the way to go.
