Yes, weed can certainly make you anxious. If you already have really bad anxiety then you shouldn't make it worse by smoking weed. Quitting is your best option.

If you had anxiety problems before smoking weed and it's causing you distress then yeah I'd seek help for it.

Just remember weed effects everyone differently, and its effects depend on your mindset and the setting you are in. Some people become calmer after blazing, some people more anxious.

My counselor made me quit for a month because I was anxious too before she would prescribe me anything to help.

I need to meet someone who gets me.

Most drugs are considered stimulants, therefore would increase anything like anxiety. Weed/Marijuana is known for making anxiety much worse.

You may have had anxiety issues when you started smoking and simply not realized it until you were actually diagnosed.

Well then your friend obviously didn't do her research before she tried weed, which is the only really "retarded" move on their part.

Weed is a mild hallucinogen and thus its effects depend in part upon what you expect from the drug, your state of mind when taking it, the people and objects surrounding you, etc. etc. It effects different people differently, causing anxiety in some while alleviating anxiety for others.

Weed can absolutely create anxiety in some people and it's a completely normal side effect seeing as how you're on a high. sometimes pot can create different effects for different people such as either making them think too much and become stressed, or it can completely just chill you out. If your anxiety is heightened during the high i'd suggest you don't smoke anymore or lay off it. There are anti anxiety medications out there for you if you feel this is becoming a problem.
