Unhappy liquid happiness - August 5th 2009, 06:09 PM

I do believe I have a problem. I use alcohol to calm my nerves when i get angered or upset. When ever I face a problem I drink. If I can't control my emotions I drink aswell. i do it to forget who I, what I've become and to forget everyone and everything else. Just lastnight I sat on the laptop on teenhelp looking for help. Realizing that noone was going to becaue they all glance over the post and never help out. I hit the bottle drank a bottle of Jagermeister untill I passed out. It seems its the only thing that makes my happy in such a fucked up state of mind.

have you considered AA?

Re: liquid happiness - August 5th 2009, 07:04 PM

well its unhealthy to live like that.
maybe you should drink near beer.
taste like beer but isnt.
that way you wont pass out or hurt your body.

i think you should talk to someone, a consulor or therapist because if you dont get a hold of your emotions, alcohol will take over and ruin your life, until the only point of stopping is rock bottom and that is a horrible thing to go through.

you cant rely on alcohol to make you happy, you have to do it for yourself.

Hey there,

First off I want to say that I am glad that you are asking for help; that is always a good first step.

I think AA would be a good thing to consider. I know that it can be difficult but in the end it can really help. I know there are many people who go to AA and come out okay. Please give it a try. AA will help you find support from people who have/are struggling with the same thing you are and it always helps to have someone help you who you can relate too.

I also think that going to a counselor/therapist is a good idea because they can help you find healthier ways to deal with your emotions. They will help you find better coping skills and they will help you confront your emotions. If you learn to deal with your emotions positively your feelings of needing alcohol to get by might diminish some.

I hope this helped and if you ever want to talk feel free to pm me.

~Jenna~

Hey Dylan,

Any addiction is so hard to deal with on your own. It is always a good idea to get outside help when you can because the support of others will help you through this. You don't have to make this harder on yourself by trying to go through it all alone. Here is a link to AA's website.

http://www.aa.org/?Media=PlayFlash

I think it would be a good idea for you to give it a look and try going to at least one of the meetings. If you decide it isn't for you then we can talk then. You have so many other options besides going back to drinking. I know drinking might seem like the easiest choice but it isn't the best. Doing this to yourself isn't going to take you any place you want to be. Your life can get better if you work on. Trying is going to be hard but it is so worth it. I'm here for you if you ever need my help. I've struggled with drug abuse for a long time now so I know how hard something like this can be. PM me anytime and I'll do my best to help you. Recovery is possible and I know you're strong enough to make it through this. Take care and hang in there.

Lots of love <3 Mimi

I am going to go ahead and close this thread because the OP seems to be satisfied with the help he has received. If anyone has an issue with this or for some reason thinks the thread should be reopened please feel free to PM me.
