Feeling over craving. - March 11th 2009, 03:59 AM

So for a few years now I've known I was going to become a smoker. It's hard to explain but I'd see people smoking and have the urge to do it? Anyway, the opportunity has never come up until last year. I was living with some smokers and began to smoke pot on a semi-regular basis. I began taking hauls after joints and now when I'm drinking I smoke cigs too.
The problem is, I'm not addicted and I really don't enjoy the taste (but I don't hate it wither), I just really, really enjoy the feeling of smoking. Be it weed or cigs, I like the feeling of smoke in my lungs (the thought, however, not so much).
Is this a type of addiction perhaps?

Interesting. Very interesting. This sort of curiosity tempts me as well...though I'm very strong-willed and hard-headed, so it's likely I won't ever become addicted.

I am not sure what it is but I can say I relate to this a bit. I'm looking forward to see answers to this.

Id call it addiction, but rather than a physical addiction where you crave a smoke...you could have a mental addiction, which means you want to smoke because you head says so. NOT because you are addicted to the negative ingrediants in a smoke.

You might be addicted to tobacco, but you can drop marijuana any day

Uh, no it wouldn't be the tobacco that he's addicted to but the nicotine. Also, it is just as possible that he is addicted to marijuana and may not be able to " drop it any day". Not saying it
isn't possible that he could drop it but it's equally as possible that he may not be able to.

Sorry for my poor choice of words that was a really quick post. Of course nicotine is responsible for the physical addiction to tobacco. There is no such thing as physical addiction to marijuana, but there is habitual addiction. Some people may find it harder to quit than other, but OP seems like a mature individual who I think should have relatively little trouble.

I wouldn't call it addiction, because I'm the same and I say I'm not addicted.
If someone asked me to, I could go without smoking without any cravings. But I don't because there's no reason for me not to, and I enjoy it.
