How would I say I met her? - August 14th 2012, 01:48 AM

So, soon, I may be moving, and it may be to a place where my best internet friend lives. Her and I, we skype, I have her on facebook, and I've known her for over three years. If I do move to the place she lives, any ideas on what kind of lie to tell my family as to how I met her? I've talked to her about this also, she thinks that if I don't go to her school, that we could say we met at a park and became friends. Any ideas?

Note: No way in hell are they knowing we met online. LOL.

Well there are alot of ways to tell them:
-She use to live where you did a few years back (and old friend type story)
-You meant her through another friend
-Shes the cousin of ________ (one of your friends) and got to know her better through them
-She goes to your school
-You met her via facebook awhile back (and shes a friend of a friend)

Here are just a few. I'm sure your parents would buy pretty much any of them if well executed.

Best wishes,
Chris

If you don't mind me asking but why do you not want your parents to know you met her online?
You should tell your parents the truth because they can trust you and look out for you. I want to say always be careful when your talking to someone online because someone could pretend they are sweet and innocent so always be careful. If you do decide to meet her take friends with you and meet your internet best friend in a public place in the mall or resturant. No matter how long you known her you don't really know her. Tell your parents where your moving to and that your internet best friend lives there too. Good Luck.

This isn't a large problem to hide, so I don't understand why you want to tell your parents a silly lie. Besides, I don't think your parents would care, as long as they can see you're safe and happy. If you two met on Facebook, then tell them that. Since you used Skype, I presume you used webcam and mic, so you can simply tell your parents there was a verbal exchange of info. The setting doesn't matter, whether you say it was Skype, school cafe, friend of a friend, etc... .

It's important to mention to your parents the reason(s) why you're moving. Be sure to note the main reason(s) are not because of 1 friend, as that's only going to worry your folks. Whatever the reasons are, tell your folks and mention your friend is nothing more than a coincidental side benefit to make the transition and stay easier

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

I agree that I don't see the problem in them knowing you meet online. I meet my girlfriend over Tumblr, my parents know and are fine with it, as long as you're safe about it, you know who you're talking to is who they say they are etc, then what is the problem? Just make sure you're being safe about it.

If you really don't want to tell your parents then just say you meet through a friend of a friend, you meet at [enter place that you attend here, eg: the park] or something but I would recommend letting your parents know everything they can possibly know about this person, where your going etc, just in case.

The reason I can't tell my parents; Almost everyday a while ago, they'd tell me this frickin' hour long story about a cop who was talking to a young girl online and how he worked out who she was + how she was just so lucky it was a cop.
Like I said, I've got her on facebook + skype, and we talk regularly on both. I think I'll still meet her in a public place and such.
I'm probably gonna stick with her and I met at a park or something like that.
They just won't know shes been my bestfriends for a kajillion billions years. LOL. cx
