Should we still be friends? - September 22nd 2012, 08:57 PM

So, a friend and I recently had an argument. It got pretty heated.
This friend is a very dramatic person, and pretty immature. Thing is, I tend to consider just about anyone who's nice to me my friend, and he's already made his way into my really close group of friends. So, all my other good friends are also good friends with him.
I feel like he gets upset over every little thing, and takes arguments and stuff very immaturely. If I accidentally mess up and say something slightly wrong, he goes, "I don't think you should be my friend anymore," but then gets over it by the next day or so. And apparently keeps a "tally" over everything I've ever done wrong, and includes the few tiny things to be enough to be a dealbreaker. Seriously? And I've done maybe 1 or 2 small things in this friendship that weren't even that bad. And this heated argument we had? I truly didn't do anything terrible, and I'm not just saying that to make my case seem better.
After our argument he apparently went to his mother to talk about it because his mother apparently said we shouldn't be friends anymore. And honestly, he said some pretty cruel things to me a few months back that I'm still upset over (and trust me when I say, they were downright awful, no where near the things I've ever messed up and said to him. He acts way worse over little things than I did over some pretty f'ed up comments). Therefore, things would already be awkward if I ever went back to his house or anything. So, I kind of feel like I'd be better off if I weren't his friend, but I don't wanna outright say that to him because it would make things awkward within our group. These disputes are very far and inbetween, but I've already got his mother who seems to dislike me, and I just hate how immaturely and dramatic he is over arguments and mess-ups. I'm not sure what to do.
Should I even be his friend anymore? If not, shopuld I say we aren't friends, or just slowly decrease our time together? We only really hang out at lunch at school. But, we have to stay within the same lunch table (all the kids), so it'd be hard to "avoid" him.
Any advice...?

Hmmm...doesn't sound great.
I personally would try being with him as little as you can; also, don't take what he says personally, just ignore it.

Skittlify me up...
