Unhappy My friend won't talk to me...? - September 25th 2012, 12:35 AM

My best friend left for college in September and since then our communicating has been minimal. We both knew it would be tricky to talk as much as we're used to since he's so busy with school. But it's been three weeks since I last heard from him. In the past week I've called him four times. He's never been a great texter or caller; in the past it's not unusual for him to not return calls. however it's really disheartening to call so much and never have him pick up. I'm starting to feel ignored and unwanted. I don't know if he's doing this on purpose or not.

Have you left any messages for him? If not, I'd go ahead and do that - something simple, along the lines of, "Hey, it's me, I haven't been able to get in touch all week and just want to know you're okay. Please call/text me back ASAP." Maybe your friend has had a particularly busy couple of weeks, and he keeps putting off his response to you (which is still pretty rude, in my opinion). Maybe he lost his phone (or the charger for his phone), and that's why he hasn't responded. Do you have access to any other means of communication, like Facebook or e-mail? If so, I would go ahead and send the message to his phone. If you don't hear back after another week, I would send the same message to him on Facebook/e-mail, stating that you've been trying to get in touch for two weeks and are concerned.

Honestly, when you have JUST started college it's VERY hectic for a lot people. So I'd cut him a break, especially since it is a first month of school. If he is in another city tell him you want to write letters ONCE A MONTH and take 30 minutes at least once a week (barring any inavoidable plans) to do stuff.

Feel free to PM me if you ever need to chat or have questions
