Question How should I deal with my parents? - August 5th 2013, 08:56 AM

I am in year 9 currently. I have so many assignments due in the next week that I desperately need to finish as the count for large parts of my end of year mark. My mother has also signed me up for tuition to do maths that is for year 12's. I insist that she change me to a tutor that helps me with my current work, but she refuses. I also get a lot of tuition homework, but there is no way I can do all my assignments and my spec maths homework done before Thursday. How do i tell my mother that I am overworked and that schoolwork comes first? I've tried reasoning with her but that got me a month grounded for 'talking back'. What to do?

Tell her how you feel about it, it's for your benefit in the end, If that doesn't work then just don't do the tuition
(p.s how are you 16 and in Year 9?)

First off, Welcome to TeenHelp!

I think you need to sit down with her and talk to her like an adult. Express all your concerns, problems, or opinions on the situation you are in right now. Communication is key here. if you don't communicate to anybody, then nothing will get solved/fixed.

Keep your head up, and keep pushing forward.

Best wishes,
Chris

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...

I accidentally pressed 1997 on my registration. I have no idea how to change it, it's really 1998

You need to talk to her about it. I imagine she is trying to do what she thinks is best for you but it's you that knows what is best for you and you need to tell her that at the moment, school work is more important and you need to get that done, especially as it's quite a large part of your mark so you don't have time for things that aren't going to be helping you with that.
