Found cigarettes in my grandpas truck - August 22nd 2013, 08:53 PM

My grandparents come over on monday and tuesday every week to watch my little sister, (im almost 16).

I was in my grandpas truck and i saw a pack of cigarettes sitting out in plain view.

And he didnt do anything to cover it up.

That was 2 weeks ago, the pack was unopened.

Now i just saw it again, same pack, still unopened.

Im positive it is the exact same pack, still unopened....

I dont think he smokes because i never smell it at all, and the pack obviously hasnt been opened.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Maybe he's an ex smoker? I know when I first quit I still carried a pack around with me, I never smoked any of them and I never opened it but I just had to have it with me.

There are tons of different possibilities:
-Someone could have left them in the truck.
-He could have bought them for someone.
-Someone could have bought them for him and not knew he didn't smoke.
-They could have been from a very long time ago and he never threw them away.

I hope you know that you deserve it all. The best, the most honest, the most beautiful purest love in the world. Not only to be loved by others, but to be loved by yourself. To look in the mirror and think "Yes, I'm exactly who I want to be". To speak up and be proud of yourself. To be brave and open. You deserve the nicest and most caring people to walk into your life. You deserve it all, you know. The whole world...

Thanks guys.

Its actually highly possible he got them for someone else, because he still meets up with friends all the time.

Yeah, it definitely could be that he got them for someone else and either hasn't seen that person yet or forgot about them. I know that sometimes when someone does a favor for one of my parents and they're a smoker, my parents may buy them a pack or two of cigarettes to repay them for it. They haven't done that in a while, but they used to do that for my brother in law.

Or he was with a friend and they either dropped out of the friend's pocket or the friend somehow left them there by accident, since he still meets up with friends all the time. Maybe he's waiting until he sees that friend again to give them back, since cigarettes are pretty darn expensive nowadays.

Or as Chris and Richard said, they could be from a long time ago and he just didn't throw them away after he quit smoking, if he ever did smoke at all. Sometimes people have an extra pack for comfort when they first quit, but as they lose the urge to smoke they may just forget they ever had the pack there.

There are a lot of theories that could be in play here but I guess the good thing in all of it is the pack is unopened! Heck, at least he's not smoking them, which is great.
