Frustrated and lonely..

Well.. Me and my mom are sort of best friends but sometimes she gets on my nerves. I tell her something that happened in school and stuff. I talk to her but half the time she's not listening! She's always thinking about something and when I ask her if she listened to me, she says "yea". I ask her to repeat what I just said and she doesn't tell anything. I get it. She's preoccupied but is it wrong that I want my mom to talk to me? Listen to me?
I've spoken to her about this a hell lotta times. She says sorry. But she's still continues the same thing.. I feel so lonely already and this is just making it worse! :(

Hey there.

I'm sorry to hear about your current situation. However please understand that parents are usually so worried and preoccupied with so many things that they don't realize they're neglecting effective communication with their children. For example, they have to worry about work, bosses, co-workers, friends, children, money, bills, etc. It's alot of things to deal with all at once. On the other hand, she should be open to communication with you. So, I highly recommend you talking to your mom about creating a time (i.e., 9:00PM, 8:00PM, etc) every night that you and her can talk and hangout without any disruptions! Even having a 30-60 minute talk every night can improve things within your relationship. Tell her you think this will be super beneficial and that it'll be a great bonding experience for the both of you.

I wish you the best and feel free to keep us updated on the situation.

Best wishes,
Chris
