mom's surgery - May 16th 2009, 09:05 PM

Okay so my mom's friend has this condition (I can't remember the name) where her kidneys don't work. She has been fine and living with it for a long time. But recently she's gotten worse. She has to go into analysis 3 times a week. My mom is giving her a kidney and her surgery is on the 19th. I am so nervous for her!

Love you-- Kayla c:

Hey, it's understandable that you're nervous for her. I'm sure she'll be fine though, as she wouldn't be having the surgery if it wasn't safe. I'm sure the doctors have checked her through everything so if there were any severe risks they wouldn't go through with it. Relax. She's doing a really kind thing.

It's completely natural to be nervous! It's surgery, we all would get nervous

I'm sure she will be fine though, just try and do things to keep your mind off it if the anxiety is affecting your everyday life. Because we cant have that, now can we?

Hi Kayla,

The best thing you can do right now is try to stay calm and be there for your mom. She has made a huge decision to give up one of her kidneys to help her friend, and I'm sure she is just as nervous as you!

I'm sure you're mom will be fine. These kinds of surgeries are quite common, and if the doctors figured that your mom would be fine after giving her kidney, then all should go well.

Just talk to her as much as you can, give her a big hug, and try to stay calm

Take care.
